Fossil Series
This body of work was based on objects I collected while hiking in Wyoming such as rocks, fossils, foliage, and bones. I was interested in geological processes and the way the surface of the earth is in constant flux. Drawn to abstract shapes and textures the objects accumulated as they disintegrated with age, the marks that created the image had a symbiotic relationship with the organic objects I was referencing as well as to the experiences that spawned the work. I used the corrosive process of etching metal plates to echo the erosion of earths surface, and ran each print through the press repeatedly to build layer upon layer of imagery to elude to the deposition of sediment to create new surfaces on earth.
